Campus Transformation
Duke Medicine’s three strategic building projects now under way represent historic changes that will not only transform the face of our medical campus, but also advance our teaching, research and clinical care missions. In addition, the transformation efforts reinforce the health system’s values, especially the core value of “Caring for our patients, their loved ones, and each other.”
The Cancer Center facility and Duke Medicine Pavilion represent Duke’s commitment to continuing to meet the needs of patients in North Carolina, as well as to increase our ability to meet existing demand and significant future growth in demand for the kind of evidence-based, quality care for which Duke is known worldwide. The School of Medicine Learning Center will significantly enhance the innovative medical education curriculum and approaches that have contributed greatly to Duke’s reputation as one of the country’s premier schools of medicine.
Duke University Hospital is at capacity and there is an acute need for additional space for patient treatment, research and training of the next generation of medical leaders.
These critically important projects are far more than simply the construction of new buildings. They are first and foremost about people – our patients and their families, our medical students and our employees, whose ability to continue to provide excellent care for our patients will benefit from these outstanding new facilities.
